Tinjauan Geografis Terhadap Upaya Pengembangan Objek Wisata Bukit Kasih Kanonang Kabupaten Minahasa

Abstract


The development of natural attractions is an important step in maximizing the contribution of the tourism sector to the regional economy. Bukit Kasih Kanonang, located in Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, offers great potential with its natural attractions and distinctive cultural values. . It is essential to gain a comprehensive understanding of the geographical, social, and economic factors that influence the development of a tourist attraction in order to ensure the sustainability of its management and the provision of long-term benefits to the area. Therefore, this study aims to determine the geographical factors that support the development of Bukit Kasih Kanonang tourist attraction. This research uses an exploratory descriptive method, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. A combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis was employed to ascertain the geographical factors, including natural factors and developers. Natural factors include slope, air temperature, landform, and rock material. Meanwhile, developer factors include attractions, facilities, infrastructure, and accessibility. The results show that although the slope (25-40%) is favorable, risk mitigation is needed to avoid potential disasters. Tourism attractions in the form of natural and cultural beauty are highly rated, but challenges such as uncomfortable air temperatures, steep landforms, limited infrastructure, and supporting facilities are significant obstacles. Good accessibility is an advantage, although there are still challenges in connectivity. To support the sustainability and comfort of tourists, risk mitigation efforts, better infrastructure management, and improved facilities are needed. This research contributes to the management strategy of Bukit Kasih as a leading tourist destination.
