Abstract


Lake Tondano has a vital role in supporting the ecological life and socio-economic activities of the surrounding communities. However, anthropogenic and natural pressures can affect its water quality, requiring periodic evaluation to ensure the sustainability of water resources. This study aims to assess the water quality at the Lake Tondano Outlet. The methodology used was descriptive quantitative with survey and field observation approaches, with periodic water sampling and laboratory analysis of physicochemical parameters. The laboratory test results show a comparison of each parameter, namely BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) 0.8 mg/L, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) <5 mg/L, DO (Dissolved Oxygen) 2 mg/L, Oil or fat 0.8 mg/L, TSS (Total Suspended Solid) 3 mg/L, pH (Degree of Acidity) 7.17 mg/L, Ammonia 0.08 mg/L. These findings explain that the water quality at the Lake Tondano Outlet is not polluted and is suitable for domestic needs such as sanitation, household, drinking water sources, agriculture, and fisheries. So as to maintain water quality and lake ecosystems, more effective water resource management policies are needed for environmental sustainability and the welfare of the surrounding community.
