Kajian Eutrofikasi Sebagai Indikator Kualitas Air di Sub DAS Noongan dan Panasen

Abstract


This study aims to determine the condition of eutrophication in Noongan and Panasen sub-watersheds based on water quality parameters. The research approach was descriptive quantitative, with periodic water sampling methods at upstream and downstream points of each sub-watershed. The samples were then analyzed in the laboratory to determine the concentration of each water quality indicator. The results showed variations in parameter concentrations between sub-watersheds. In the Noongan Subwatershed, nitrate decreased from 3.0 mg/L (upstream) to 2.7 mg/L (downstream), phosphate increased slightly (0.07-0.08 mg/L), potassium increased from 3.1 mg/L to 3.6 mg/L, BOD decreased significantly (0.5-0.2 mg/L), while COD jumped from <5 mg/L to 18 mg/L downstream. In the Panasen Subwatershed, nitrate stabilized at 3.2 mg/L, phosphate dropped from 0.26 mg/L (upstream) to 0.17 mg/L (downstream), potassium decreased dramatically (8.3-5.7 mg/L), BOD decreased from 2 mg/L to 1 mg/L, and COD stabilized at 17 mg/L. Based on class II water quality standards (Permen LH No. 22/2021), most parameters (nitrate, phosphate, BOD) are still within the safe threshold, but COD downstream of Noongan (18 mg/L) and Panasen (17 mg/L) exceeded the maximum limit (15 mg/L). This indicates the potential for early eutrophication due to organic load from anthropogenic activities. Strengthening watershed conservation, reducing pollutant inputs, and intensive monitoring are recommended to mitigate the risk of aquatic ecosystem degradation.
